Cranberries - Health Benefits

Recent research from The University of Wisconsin shows that cranberries are a great health food. Known for their benefits with urinary track infections, cranberries are now found to be good for the heart as well. Found in cranberries are antioxidant compounds, flavonoids and polyphenols, all improving blood vessel function and protecting against heart disease. These compounds in the cranberry help blood vessels to relax in people that have high cholesterol and atherosclerosis. Cranberries have also been shown to have positive effects on cancer, gum disease and ulcers.
