Bottled Water Facts 3

It's amazing how much we don't know about the major player in all of our lives - water. From keeping our bodies running to rejuvenating our planet, water plays a major role in our daily lives. Here are ten fun facts you may not know about water:

  • The human body is made up of over 75 per cent water
  • Each day people must replace 2.4 litres of water which is lost from their bodies through perspiration and kidney filtration. Keep a bottle of water on your desk at work and take frequent sips to keep your body hydrated
  • Canadians consume 350 litres of water per day through use such as laundry, brushing your teeth, showering and drinking
  • The human body absorbs cool fluid better than room temperature or warm beverages. An easy way to always have cool water on hand is to keep a supply in the fridge like the new 8 litre bottle from Canadian Springs. The new format provides convenient access to cool spring water directly from your fridge and with a unique, easy-to-use tap that is handy for on-the-go activities
  • Approximately 750 litres of water is needed to grow 1 kilogram of cranberries
  • The equivalent of 100 million bath tubs full of water goes over Niagara Falls every minute
  • Approximately 100 litres of water is needed to produce 1 litre of alcohol
  • Once evaporated, a water molecule spends about 10 days in the air
  • Of the total world's freshwater supply, about one-third is found underground. The majority of this underground water can be found in aquifers similar to those that are used for bottled spring water
  • In the 1990s, over a ten year period, Canadian demand for bottled water grew over 300 per cent
